ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 2
nationally ranked Mount Union football team shut out Capital, 38-0, in the
second half for a 65-17 win, scoring the most points this season.
The game was tied 27-17 at halftime before the
Purple Raiders shut out the Comets, 38-0, in the second half to remain
undefeated at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the OAC.
Graduate RB Darnell Williams (Cleveland, OH/John Adams)
ran for his fifth career 100-yard game with a career-high 176 yards with a 13.5
average per attempt.
Senior S Jerry Cooper Jr. (Miami, FL/South Fort
Myers) started the scoring with a pick-six on the second
play of the game, returning his first career interception 27 yards for a
touchdown. Cooper had three career touchdowns as a receiver before
transitioning to safety this season.
Redshirt freshman QB Mikey Maloney
(Concord Township, OH/Painesville Riverside) went
14-of-18 with 194 yards passing and three touchdowns, now having thrown
multiple touchdowns in every game this season. Maloney added 65 yards on the
ground and a career-high two rushing touchdowns, including a 57-yard rush-the
longest run of his career.
Seniors DB Kosta Thrasivoulou (North Ridgeville, OH/North
Ridgeville) and SPUR Weston Arthur (Homerville, OH/Northwestern)
led the defense with 10 tackles each, matching a career high for Arthur while
setting one for Thrasivoulou. Senior BANDIT Parker
Logan (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) had a game-
and career-high two sacks. Sophomore S Ricky Levak (Nordonia, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) also had an
interception, his second of the season.
Junior WR Davion Grant (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) had five
catches for 53 yards and a season-high two touchdowns. Sophomore WR Preston
Smith (South Lebanon, OH/Archbishop
Moeller) had a career-best two touchdowns off four catches for a career-high 86
yards, including a career-long 68-yard touchdown. Senior WR Jacob Cockrell
(Stockbridge, GA/Dutchtown) added 60 yards receiving,
including a 47-yard touchdown. Junior QB Chase Copper (Orlando, FL/Oviedo) went
5-for-6 for 94 yards and two touchdowns-all career highs.
Capital drops to 2-6 overall and 0-6 in the OAC.
The Mount Union M Club Hall
of Fame recognized its 2025 class and special award winners at halftime. The
eight-person hall of fame class includes Mike Barton '90 (Men's Wrestling),
Drew McClain '10 (Football), Brian Mogus '10 (Men's
Tennis), Melissa Mahnke-Morrison '10 (Women's
Volleyball), Jaime Serrat '78 (Men's Soccer), Cecil
Shorts III '21 (Football), Celena (Holmes '86) Smith
(Women's Track & Field), and Jeremy Yoder '00 (Football). In addition, the
Duke Barret Award of Excellence was given to Carrie
Coon '03, Dara Ford '05, and Mike Pechac
'98.
The Raiders will play at Marietta for their
final conference road game on Saturday, Nov. 8, with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
