Football: Mount Union Seals 34th Undefeated Regular Season, Ready for NCAA Playoffs

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 2 nationally ranked Mount Union football team won 51-7 over Muskingum at home to wrap up the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record for its 34th overall and ninth straight undefeated regular season.

Both teams scored on their opening possession, but then it was all Mount Union, scoring 51 unanswered points.

Redshirt-freshman QB Mikey Maloney (Concord Township, OH/Painesville Riverside) had his third five-touchdown performance of the season, which included three touchdown passes and two on the ground. Each passing touchdown went to a different receiver. Maloney added a career-high 76 rushing yards, his third 70+ rushing yard game of the season.

Junior Davion Grant (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) posted back-to-back 100-yard receiving games with a game-high 137 yards and a touchdown against his former team. Senior Nick Turner (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) had three catches for 67 yards and a TD. Senior Wyatt Stiehl (Tampa, FL/East Lake) maintained his incredible touchdown-to-catch ratio with one catch for a 13-yard touchdown. Six of Stiehl's seven catches have resulted in a touchdown this season.

Graduate RB Darnell Williams (Cleveland, OH/John Adams) led on the ground with 81 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Brandon Bowden (Gainesville, FL/Gainesville) led the defense with a game- and career-high 2.5 sacks; senior Kaleb Brown (La Plata, MD/La Plata) had 1.5 sacks (now with 28.5 for his career); while senior Keenan Cruz (Lutz, FL/George M. Steinbrenner) added a sack.

Mount Union outgained Muskingum, 500-149, in total yards, including 237-1 in net rushing.

At halftime, the legendary 1985 Mount Union football team was recognized. Under the leadership of M Club Hall of Famer and 1985 OAC Coach of the Year, Head Coach Ken Wable, the 1985 team celebrated numerous firsts in Mount Union's history. They secured the team's first OAC Championship, advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time, won the first NCAA playoff game in school history, and achieved the program's first undefeated regular season.

The Purple Raiders, who have already earned the OAC's NCAA automatic bid by winning their league-record 36th title, will wait for the 2025 NCAA Division III Football Selection Show to see who they face to open their NCAA Division III record 36th NCAA appearance. The selection show will air Sunday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. EST on NCAA.com. The 40-team field consists of 27 automatic qualifiers and 13 at-large bids.
