Raiders Shine in 6-3 Win at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Mount Union baseball team (9-6) traveled to Adrian College (8-10) for a non-conference matchup. The Purple Raiders won 6-3, extending their winning streak to four games.

 

Junior left-handed pitcher Angel Mediavilla (Hialeah, FL. / Imater Charter) started the game and delivered two strong innings of work, striking out three batters. Junior right-handed pitcher Anthony Warner (Louisville, Ohio / Louisville) entered in relief and earned his first win of the season, also pitching two innings with three strikeouts. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Ty Dennison (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) had a strong performance, throwing three innings and recording five strikeouts. Finally, junior right-handed pitcher Jeremy Moore (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Monroe Falls) earned his second save of the season by pitching the final two innings and striking out one batter.

 

Offensively, Mount Union had contributions from several key players, including sophomore outfielder Brycen Fox (Hamilton, Ohio / Badin), who recorded an RBI single in the third inning. Fox finished the day 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI. Adrian took a 2-1 lead in the next half-inning, but the Purple Raiders bounced back with an impressive fifth inning, scoring five runs.

 

In the fifth inning, Senior shortstop Alex Stegman (Berea, Ohio / Berea-Midpark) hit an RBI single through the left side of the infield, bringing two runners home. Graduate first baseman Jaired Lehman (Monroeville, PA. / Gateway) followed with a double, also scoring two runners. Finally, junior outfielder Chris Tsouras (Las Vegas, NV. / Arbor) capped off the inning with an RBI double to left-center.

 

Adrian scored another run in the sixth inning, but Mount Union managed to hold off the late comeback and secured a strong out-of-conference victory.

 

Mount Union's next game is Saturday at home against Heidelberg in a doubleheader, with game one scheduled for 1:00 PM and game two to follow shortly after.
