West Branch Re-Assigns Administrators for 2012-2013
Beloit—West Branch Local Schools will re-assign three administrators for the 2012-2013 School Year. Matt Manley, who has served as Principal of West Branch Middle School for the past ten years, will move to full-time Staff Development Coordinator. The position, made possible with federal funds, will be a one-year assignment. According to Dr. Scott Weingart, Superintendent of West Branch, the State of Ohio has outlined a series of ambitious initiatives in the areas of curriculum and instruction, technology, testing, and teacher evaluation.
“I have been an administrator for over 20 years,” commented
Dr. Weingart, “and I have never seen anything this ambitious. It will require a
great deal of in-service training for our teachers and administrators. We are
looking at a total revamping of our state tests, the core standards that drive
what we teach, and a whole new evaluation system that each district must create
and have in place for the 2013-2014 School Year. It is a massive undertaking,
and we needed someone to devote full time and energy into helping us make these
changes. Mr. Manley has the experience and the skills to help our staff adjust
to new learning goals and teaching techniques. I appreciate his willingness to
take on this challenge.”
With Mr. Manley’s re-assignment to Staff Development, Mr. Roger Kitzmiller will
assume the duties of Principal of West Branch Middle School. Mr. Kitzmiller was
the former principal of Beloit Elementary School and was instrumental in the
re-configuration of the District this past year. Under the reconfiguration plan,
all fifth graders will become part of West Branch Middle School and all Beloit
Elementary students and staff were re-assigned to either Knox or Damascus
Elementary Schools. This will leave the District with two elementary schools
(K-4), a middle school with students 5-8, and the high school with students
9-12.
Joining Mr. Kitzmiller as assistant principal will be Mr. Aaron Walker. Mr. Walker has taught both elementary and middle music and has served as head teacher at West Branch Middle School for the past two years.
